Social Studies Curriculum for MISD: At McKinney ISD, the primary focus for the social studies curriculum is to ensure that all students acquire a sense of history and geography, an understanding of government , economics and democratic values, and that they become thoughtful observers and wise decision-makers based on their deep understanding of history and society. In McKinney, the students are actively engaged in the acquiring of essential social studies knowledge and skills.
Teachers can locate a Year at a Glance, Quarterly Pacing Guides, and weekly lesson plans for social studies in SchoolNet for Grades K, 1, 4, and 5. Teachers in grade 2 and grade 3 will also locate social studies curriculum in the Elementary Curriculum Planner. Both sources can be accessed from the Staff Resources page through the McKinney ISD website.
